Pierre Paulin’s F300 Lounge Chair

Available at Design Within Reach

A modernist icon returns. Originally introduced in the late 1960s, Pierre Paulin’s F300 Lounge chair stunned the design world with its sculptural silhouette and space-age sensibility. Now, Danish design house GUBI has revived the chair—alongside its companion T877 Side Table—bringing this timeless classic to a new generation of collectors and design lovers.

Torontonians can find the reissued series at Design Within Reach, located in the city’s King East Design District.

Visually bold and ergonomically brilliant, the F300 has long been celebrated for its low-slung form and futuristic curves. Crafted for the 21st century using HiREKF300—a high-performance polymer made from industrial plastic waste—the new edition maintains the durability and glossy visual appeal of the original, with a more sustainable footprint. The result is a lightweight, UV-resistant lounge chair that feels at home in a gallery, a sunlit condo or anywhere in between.

Unlike Paulin’s pillowy Pacha chair, the F300 takes on a more structured and architectural form, combining comfort with sculptural elegance. The shape has no flat surfaces, encouraging fluid, relaxed postures—ideal for lounging solo or creating a relaxed seating arrangement. Available in Alabaster White or a distinctly retro Pastel Green, the chair also comes with optional upholstery to enhance softness.

Its partner, the T877 Side Table, echoes the same flowing geometry. Made from the same durable HiREK material, the table is offered in the same colours as the F300 Lounge chair, plus additional hues like Violet Ice, Honey Gold, and Molé—perfect for adding contrast or cohesion, depending on your interior vision.

Both the chair and table are easily portable, making them versatile additions to ever-evolving living spaces. Whether used as standalones or in a set, these pieces represent the best of functional sculpture.
