Decadent desserts for the hungry and hurried

“Dessert makes you happy.” Few words ring truer than Roselle Desserts’ cheerful motto, welcoming customers in playful dotted script on a simple white sign. Just a scan of this petite pastry shop’s meticulously handcrafted desserts, from French-style pastries and housemade soft-serve ice cream to petits fours and giant, pillowy marshmallows, might be enough to give you an instant endorphin rush. The entire shop, thoughtfully designed by Esmond Lee, is a mood-booster. Red and white chairs, a unique pipework light fixture above the bar, and chic, effortless decor create an inviting atmosphere perfect for enjoying sweets.

Interiors of Roselle Desserts on King Street

Partners in both life and business, pâtissier Stephanie Duong and chef Bruce Lee—a pair of George Brown College alumni—opened Roselle Desserts in Corktown in February after years of honing their skills abroad in Hong Kong and Paris. Their signature confections are classics with creative twists, and highlights include the Banana Cream Pie Eclairs ($7) and Turtle Tarts ($7), each crafted to delight. For cookie lovers, the Earl Grey Shorties ($3) add a sweet surprise with a white chocolate center speckled with candied orange peel, while the Earl Grey-orange shortbread is perfectly flaky. This winter, Roselle introduces a buche de Noel (from $30) to their custom-cake lineup. Their festive yule log, with a Roselle twist of chestnut filling and a subtle sweetness, could easily become a family-favorite holiday dessert for years to come. Whether stopping in for a quick treat or indulging in a signature dessert, Roselle Desserts offers an experience as sweet as its confections, promising a delightful escape for locals and visitors alike.
